Eight children, woman killed as fire wreaks havoc in Dadu

SUKKUR: At least eight children and a mother were killed, and numerous more were injured, after a fire broke out late Tuesday in Dadu district, destroying more than 50 homes, according to The News.

According to reports, the fire started in the kitchen of a small cabin. The incident occurred in Dadu district's Faiz Muhammad Chandio village, Mehar taluka, Khairpur Nathan Shah.

According to the news report, eight children, plus a mother, died in the fire, which quickly overtook the adjacent neighbourhood, which included roughly 50 or more residences.More than 160 livestock, as well as crops and other goods, were said to have been burned to death by the people. They claimed that despite numerous calls to the appropriate authorities, the fire tenders failed to arrive to the scene, stating that no government official had arrived in the area.

The bodies and injured were sent to a local hospital for medical and legal procedures.

The locals afterwards staged a demonstration against the government, requesting Sindh's chief minister to take note of the administration's indifference. After 12 hours, they alleged, the deputy commissioner of Dadu and other officials arrived. Village elders asked that the authorities thoroughly rehabilitate all of the damaged dwellings and offer immediate compensation.

PM Shehbaz assures relief, compensation to families of victims

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that the federal government will take steps to assist the victims' relatives.


The prime minister has requested a detailed report from Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, including a copy of the FIR, the cause of the fire, and the number of lives, properties, and cattle lost. He also instructed the Sindh Chief Minister to begin immediate relief and rehabilitation efforts for the fire victims, as well as to declare compensation.

Bilawal takes notice of incident

Following the event, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari met with Sindh Chief Minister to discuss relief efforts for the victims.

While expressing his grief and sorrow over the incident's deaths, CM Shah urged the district administration to push up the rescue operation to put out the fire and offer medical care to those who were injured. The chief minister stated that he has to be kept up to date on all aspects of the relief effort. He also told the police that they should help the district administration with the operation.
